Reducing Poverty, Building Prosperity

Burst for Prosperity is a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy and research organization that promotes practical solutions to life-long family economic security within communities of poverty in Washington State. We use a highly collaborative, community based approach to strengthen local and statewide service delivery systems. Our mission is the dedicated pursuit of ideas that bring real economic success for low-income families and individuals throughout the state.

The Prosperity Agenda (formerly known as Burst for Prosperity) has an exceptional opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to growing and developing a start-up statewide organization that promotes practical solutions through research and policy which promote life-long family economic security within communities of poverty in Washington State. Our research explores effective methods for building capacity in local and statewide human and social service delivery systems and supports our evidence-based policy agenda.

    Four years of leaving foster care for adult independence only 46% of youth have graduated from high school, and fewer than 20% are self-supporting. Difficulty accessing higher education and opportunities to train for living wage jobs result in high rates of poverty among former foster youth. Burst for Prosperity has proposed creating a Child Savings Account program for foster youth.
