M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Supports CHSW with $185,000 Grant

On May 19, Children’s Home Society of Washington (CHSW) was awarded a $185,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to lead fundraising efforts to build capacity in the Spokane region. The grant supports CHSW's deployment of a Spokane-based development officer for three years.  This support builds upon the successful completion of a three-year "Capacity Building Through Philanthropy" pilot project in partnership with Sherwood Trust in Walla Walla.

The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust's mission is to “enrich the quality of life in the Pacific Northwest by providing grants to organizations that seek to strengthen the region’s educational, cultural, and spiritual base in creative and sustainable ways.”

CHSW’s location in Spokane, the Galland-Ashlock Family Resource Center, brings together children and families to strengthen relationships through support programs and counseling, as well as provide parents with the tools they need to assist in the development of their young children.

"The generosity of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust will help Children's Home Society of Washington to significantly increase sustainable philanthropic support to meet the increasing needs of local children and families,” states Sharon Osborne, President/CEO of Children’s Home Society of Washington.  “We are proud to partner with the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust to strategically grow our capacity and serve more children and families throughout the greater Spokane area."
