Children’s Home Society of Washington is the state’s oldest statewide, private, not-for-profit organization serving children and families. Our mission is to develop healthy children, create strong families, build engaged communities, and to speak and advocate for children. Each year, the Society serves thousands of children and parents across Washington through a variety of programs.
We are seeking an individual to join CHSW who believes in its mission and is passionate about the services we provide to our consumers. The person must be eager to call into play his/her skills to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
In a team environment, provides quality childcare to children enrolled in center-based childcare program.
- Takes lead responsibilities in the classroom when an Educator is absent, including planning time and lunch breaks.
- Helps set-up and prepares meals as appropriate; eats family style meals with the children.
- Assists in implementing individualized education plans to meet children's developmental needs.
- May assist in the following childcare center activities: nutrition, environmental health and safety practices, daily and weekly lesson plans, etc.
- Attends and participates in parent education sessions as requested.
- Attends Center junctions (i.e. team meetings, trainings, etc.)
- Interacts positively with all children to support their individual learning and meets their emotional needs. Communicates regularly and respectfully with families and involves them in the education program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- One-year work experience in a child care or child development setting.
- One year experience in working with children and parents from a culturally diverse and low-income population.
- Must have completed a minimum of 20 hours of training in relevant STARS training. STARS Registry numbers within 90 days of hiring.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a teaching team.
- The ability to regularly lift infants of up to 40 pounds.
- Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office Suite, and MS Outlook.
- Proof of physical exam, including a TB skin test, must be on file. For those who have tested positive, a statement from a doctor or a chest x-ray must be provided.
- Proof of CPR and First Aid Certification is required.
- Obtain a food handler’s permit within 90 days of start date.
- HIV/AIDS and blood borne pathogens training required.
