Waiting Mentoring Project
The Leave No Child Waiting Mentoring Project is a
volunteer mentoring
program in support of children whose parents are currently or have been
incarcerated in state correctional facilities.
Volunteer mentors are positive adult role models for children who may
be struggling at home or in school, a common outcome of having a parent
arrested and jailed. Mentors are linked with children between the ages
of 5 and 14, offering advocacy support to the child by
- Listening to the
child’s concerns
and questions as
well as those of caregivers
- Assisting with
schoolwork and encouraging
extracurricular
activities
- Creating
opportunities for recreation and
relaxation with the
child
- Providing family
support
Leave No Child Waiting services are avialable throughout Chelan County, Douglas County, and King County.
