Counseling

Child and Family Counseling
CHSW is a licensed mental health services provider and contracts with the Chelan-Douglas Regional Support Network to provide counseling, case management and a range of support services to eligible children and families in Chelan and Douglas Counties.

Family Support & Parent Education

Wenatchee Family Center
This community-based parent information and resource center (PIRC) offers a wide variety of activities and services for families. By providing information, education and support, as well as links to other available community resources, the Center seeks to promote the self-sufficiency and well-being of families. CHSW's PIRCs serve children, parents and educators in school districts throughout Washington by providing a variety of services that assist schools and parents in building closer home-school connections, increase parents' involvement in their children's education, and foster the developmental process of children.

Leave No Child Waiting Mentoring Project
The Leave No Child Waiting Mentoring Project is a volunteer mentoring program in support of children whose parents are currently or have been incarcerated in state correctional facilities.

Volunteer mentors are positive adult role models for children who may be struggling at home or in school, a common outcome of having a parent arrested and jailed. Mentors are linked with children between the ages of 5 and 14, offering advocacy support to the child by

  • Listening to the child’s concerns and questions as well as those of caregivers
  • Assisting with schoolwork and encouraging extracurricular activities
  • Creating opportunities for recreation and relaxation with the child
  • Providing family support
Leave No Child Waiting services are avialable throughout Chelan County, Douglas County, and King County.

Out-of-Home Care

Therapeutic Foster Care
CHSW's specialized foster care program blends the strengths of trained foster parents with the skills of CHSW professionals to provide a therapeutic environment for emotionally/behaviorally troubled children. Intensive treatment is intended to facilitate the child's placement into a permanent home within six months to a year.

Fostering School Success

Readiness to Learn
This school-linked program provides family advocates who help families access needed community and school resources to address problems that may be interfering with their child's success at school. The assistance may include access to necessary health care, parent education, counseling, home visitation and more.
