Head Start Program

This program serves
low-income families with
children birth through three years of age, pregnant women or expecting
fathers. Focusing on early child development, families in the program
participate with staff in setting and achieving individual and family
goals through a combination of services that include home visits,
family center activities, and referral to other community resources.

Child
Development
Centers located at Green River Community College and in Kent offer full
and part-day child care services utilizing a creative, stimulating
pre-school curriculum for children 6 weeks to five years of age. The
Centers also provide early screening and developmental assessments,
individualized learning plans for each child, as well as parenting
education and support. Head Start and Early Head Start services are
offered at both centers.

Walla Walla
Tot Spot is a
multi-faceted program for low
income families who are pregnant or have children age birth through
three. The parent-child bond, healthy child development, and family
strengths are promoted by center based, home visiting, and group
services. Parents learn positive ways to nurture, guide and discipline
their children in a parenting education class while their children are
participating in an assisted play environment that fosters the
development of their motor and social skills. Services are available in
English and Spanish.

Located at the King County Regional Justice Center in Kent
and in the
Seattle Municipal Court building in Seattle, the Drop-in Child Care
Centers offers a safe and nurturing environment for children, ages 4
weeks to 12 years old, whose parents or guardians have business to
conduct in the Justice Center. The center also serves as a parent
information and resource center.
